Personality
shadyn is the easiest person you know to be around. she's not quite a mom friend, but the type to always remember birthdays and give the advice you need to hear. she's gentle with children, animals, and your heart, and always willing to help out. a hard worker and academic, she has a PhD in dimensiology and astrophysics, but dabbles frequently in language learning, music, botany, and literature. she's an incredible writer and plays the piano like she's taking you to another dimension---which, would make sense, given her line of work. despite being almost universally loved by everyone she meets, she struggles with generalized anxiety and ocd. she's very self-critical, and sometimes finds she may push people away due to her rigorous studying or self-induced workload. disliking confrontation, she has a habit of putting off important conversations that need to be had, or succumbing to her fear of authority figures.

shadyn was born in lune de pomme, france, but was given up immediately and sent to an culture-preserving orphanage, where she learned french, english, and ASL. after spending about a year and a half there, she was adopted by her parents neil and anaïs yinchen, along with her siblings murphy, elena, and foxtrot. her parents made sure to continue her studies in her native language, as well as encourage her to explore her heritage as much as possible, though she never finds out who her real parents are. she's only ever been in two relationships: one with her ex girlfriend viviann, and one with her now-wife, summer. viviann mistreated her fairly badly, and was undeniably emotionally abusive. she met summer after attempting to dimension hop in college and failing, getting stuck on a planet with human-eating plants and undiscovered predators. summer, after reading her missing persons report, became dedicated to finding her, and she succeeded. their romance was inevitable after this, and they stayed together all throughout their university years. eventually, they have one son named beau.
